At the end of the day, improving your health is something that you do for yourself, so it is important to make sure that your mind and body are both on the same page. This pep talk doesn’t have to be cheesy at all. In fact, a simple “You got this,” at the mirror is all it takes to pump yourself up. It may feel silly at first, but it is absolutely imperative to cheer yourself on verbally as your mind can often place doubt.
Surround Yourself with Success
Unfortunately, misery loves company! Don’t let other’s negative thoughts and feelings get you down. While going through this important stage of weight loss, surround yourself with positivity. Whether this means putting your social media on pause or avoiding those who keep your down, do what is best for you! Write an inspirational quote on your mirror or talk to someone who has successfully lost weight. Both of these ideas can provide you with a quick pick-me-up and remind you of all the reasons why you’re taking control of your health and fitness.
Start a Challenge
If you are a competitive person, use that aspect of your character to your advantage by creating a challenge! Find some friends to compete against or work to beat your own record each week. You can even look into social groups or apps to give you that extra push that you need to meet your goal.
Don’t do all that hard work for free! Implement a reward system for yourself to encourage success. One great system is to throw a dollar in a jar every time you lose a pound or meet your goal for the week. Then, at the end of your weight loss challenge, use that money to treat yourself! Remember that your treat does not have to involve going out to eat which could ruin your health plan. Use that money to buy new workout clothes or even a down payment on a gym membership!
