Our Approach
The BeLite Healthy Diet & Weight Loss Plan
Many of our patients are veterans of other diet programs and come to us because they’ve heard of the success of our weight loss plan in helping people achieve significant weight reduction. We find most patients achieve the weight loss they desire if they change their lifestyle to include regular aerobic exercise and a healthy low-fat diet which includes fruits and vegetables.
We like to describe the beLite weight loss plan as being like a stool with three legs:
We like to describe the beLite weight loss plan as being like a stool with three legs:

- Diet – The diet plan utilized by our center is similar to plans used by Weight Watchers or the American Heart Association. These are eating plans which you can easily live with after you lose your weight, making it easier to maintain your weight at its optimal level. The recommended eating guidelines with the beLite weight loss plan are described simply as 3, 3 and 3: Three meals a day, three fruits a day and three vegetables a day. Our recommended weight loss meal plans include real food, to teach you good eating habits and to help you lose weight. You will not go on a starvation diet, a liquid protein diet or a live-on-powder diet.
- Exercise – Finding active movement that is fun and social helps to make exercise an easier part of your everyday life and is key to losing and then maintaining a healthy weight.
- Medication – A key component of our weight loss program. Most patients are prescribed phentermine, phendimetrazine or diethylpropion, medications that work in the brain to increase norepinephrine production, thereby decreasing hunger and stopping food cravings. These medications are typically prescribed in conjunction with 5-HTP/carbidopa. Click here for additional information about the use of supplements in our weight loss program.
