The BeLite Medical Center, which opened March 1, 1995, uses appetite suppressant medications together with exercise and a healthy diet to help patients improve their health by losing weight. The BeLite Clinic is located in Northern Virginia in the city of Fairfax and serves patients from all areas. Reflecting our expertise and excellent reputation, many patients from other areas of Virginia, such as Richmond, Warrenton, and Winchester, travel to our clinic for treatment, in addition to patients from Maryland, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Our weight loss program features:

  • An Innovative, Medically-Oriented Approach
  • Safe Effective Medication
  • 95% Success Rate
  • No Special Health Foods
  • Professionally Trained Medical Personnel

Perhaps you’ve been enrolled in past diet programs, but simply haven’t been successful. Perhaps you’ve spent hundreds of dollars on expensive exercise equipment, only to find that the equipment merely gathers dust in a corner. Whatever your past experience, the BeLite Medical Center can be the start of a successful weight loss program. We get more new enrollments from referrals than from any other source. Our staff understands what it takes to produce real results — many are graduates. Nearly 95% of our patients have lost weight successfully.

We like to describe our weight loss program as being like a stool with three legs: diet, exercise and medication. All three components of the weight loss program must be worked on in order for you to achieve your weight loss goal. Medications are a key component of our weight loss program. Most patients are prescribed phentermine, phendimetrazine or diethylpropion, medications that work in the brain to increase norepinephrine production, thereby decreasing hunger and stopping food cravings. These medications are typically prescribed in conjunction with 5-HTP/carbidopa. Click here for additional information about the use of supplements in our weight loss program.

The combined use of phentermine and 5-HTP for weight loss is the subject of a paper published in 2010 by Dr. Rothman, our Medical Director. A published survey given to the physician members of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) in 2009, found that 20% used 5-HTP/carbidopa in their practice.
