If you’ve tried to price neurotoxin treatment in Northern Virginia, you’ve probably noticed that most practices won’t tell you — the price is hidden behind a consultation. Here’s the honest landscape: published per-unit prices in the Fairfax area generally run from about $10 to $20, with most established practices in the $12–$15 range and dermatology or plastic-surgery offices at the top of the band. At BeLite, we publish our price: Xeomin — a comparable FDA-approved alternative to Botox — is $12.50 per unit, and consultations are free.
Per-unit vs. per-area pricing: read the fine print
Practices price neurotoxins two ways. Per-unit pricing (what we use) means you pay for exactly the amount of product injected — transparent and directly comparable between practices. Per-area pricing (“forehead: $350”) bundles an unstated number of units; it can be fine, but it makes comparison shopping impossible and sometimes hides conservative dosing that fades early. When comparing quotes, always ask: how many units, and what’s the per-unit math?
What a realistic treatment actually costs
Because every face is different, your total depends on the individualized treatment plan you develop with your medical provider — at BeLite, typically between $400 and $700 depending on how many units your plan calls for. You pay only for the units used. Be cautious of any practice that quotes a total price before anyone has examined your facial movement.
Why suspiciously cheap neurotoxin is a red flag
When you see prices dramatically below the local range — or injections offered at homes, parties, or unlicensed storefronts — the discount usually comes from somewhere you don’t want it to. In 2024, the FDA alerted the public that counterfeit “Botox” had been found in multiple states, with adverse events including hospitalizations. The CDC’s investigation documented 17 people across 9 states with harmful reactions — 13 of them hospitalized — after injections with counterfeit or unverified products, typically administered by unlicensed or untrained individuals outside healthcare settings, and continued to receive similar reports afterward. As recently as November 2025, the FDA issued warning letters to 18 websites selling unapproved injectables. Legitimate product can only be purchased by licensed medical practices from authorized distributors — which is one structural reason properly sourced treatment can’t be $6 a unit.
Questions that protect you (at any practice)
What product is this, exactly — and was it purchased from the manufacturer’s authorized U.S. distributor?
What is your per-unit price, and how many units does my plan call for?
Who is injecting me, and what license do they hold?
Is there a consultation fee, and am I committed to anything before we agree on a plan?
FAQ
Why is Xeomin cheaper than some Botox quotes if it works the same? Manufacturing and distribution economics differ between products; comparable results don’t require identical wholesale costs. We pass the difference on.
Is cheaper always worse? No — within the normal local range, price differences mostly reflect overhead and brand. Below the normal range is where the red flags start.
Do you charge for a consultation? No. Consultations at BeLite are free, and you pay nothing if you decide not to proceed.
